The natural history museum is huge and is divided into a lot of sections, which each shares the opportunity to explore cultures and science within the historical knowledge. As you walk through entrance, the first thing you get to see is a huge mammal, an elephant standing in a platform with its trunk up. The history museum is an inspiration to learn more about how life started in this planet. You get the curiosity to understand the reason for so emotive and complex that lives or lived in our planet. This museum makes your mind travel through a beautiful experience, where you get to understand how this incredible creature developed to become so unique in the present.

You find this museum in Pennsylvania Avenue, between 11th and 12th streets in Washington D.C. It is near the National Mall and the Newseum. The building was designed with a neoclassical style and was constructed with two white big floors separated in sections with plenty of space. Just the building contains its own history because it is the first museum built in America. It holds over 125 million specimens and some are older than 200 years old. It looks as an old library, full of books, as you walk by its halls which a bunch of tourists imagining the same perspective as you. It feels as if you were surrounded by scholars and people who are interested in learning. That’s pretty similar with what is happening in this museum. The books that it shares have a lot of information and well illustrated drawings. There are over 185 natural history scientists employed in the museum which are constantly investigating and giving more news to the visitors.

This museum was established in 1910, by the restoration project for the national wall by the congress and the McMillan commission. It explains the start of life in earth till what’s the world now. The museum exhibits beautiful animals, plants, fossils, rocks, and minerals that have evolved on our planet. It is a wonderful pleasure to be surrounded by all this life as if they were real and so that you understand their roles.external image national-museum-of-natural-history.jpg In the first floor of the museum you can find the beginning of evolution, how bacteria transformed with time into the huge dinosaurs and so on. There’s also houses of mammals were they preserve a lot of specimens. They also show how water animals became amphibians and from them to reptiles, or mammals, or birds. The second floor contains Gems, Minerals and a special display of the infamous Hope Diamond. It also has houses of insects, reptiles and some bone exhibitions. There are also shops inside the museum were you can buy replicas of the Hope Diamond, posters, books, and various remarkable objects to remind you of your visit. The museum also has a big IMAX theater were you can watch videos about science and the nature. I think its purpose is to create opportunities for learning, inspire imagination, and present challenging ideas about the incredible world that lives in nature that we should emphasize because it is beautiful.
