Mount Vernon is a really nice place, full of facts, artifacts, information, and different areas where you can be. Mount Vernon is very old, it is really well reserved, we can appreciate many details of the house, and things that were originally before. Many people go and visit this place because of the big amount of activities and things you can do there. Mt. Vernon was one of my favorite places where I went at Washington D.C. I recommend everyone to go and visit the house, go and watch the interactive movies they show, and read every fact at the museum. I learned a lot of things that I will never forget.
Mount Vernon was the house of the first president of the United States, George Washington. He lived there with his wife Martha lived there from 1754 to 1799 when he passed away. Mount Vernon is known as all of the territory he owned, we can find stables, plantations, working houses for the slaves and a forest. Mount Vernon is kept to remember George Washington and some events of his life. The United Sates government honors Washington because he was the first president of the US, and he was the victorious chief commander of the army that fought against England for independence.
This mansion is generally built with blocks and wood. Special sand was added after painting it so the house had a different texture from the outside. In think the mansion is built just as a classical style. The house was built as Mr. Washington ordered to construct it. By 1754 the house as finished and in that year George Washington moved in to live there. Year’s later two changes were made. The fist change doubles the size of the original house and by 1792 the house was now a mansion and it had doubled its size on

ce again. The house has been clean in the inside and outside; the house is maintained so that the wood looks good, the windows and rooms. Most of the things today at the house are not from George Washington, the museum replaced them so that the house looks kind of identical. The house was not built by the government; the house as we know was made by petition of the Washington family. They paid for it and planned the construction.
Some historical events that have happened here is that George’s and Martha’s Washington body is at Mt. Vernon. There is also a slave memorial and a museum that can teach you a lot of things.
The house of George Washington is enormous. It is really nice and I had a good time there. I couldn’t believe how big the territory of Mt. Vernon is, and how many different rooms the house has. I found interesting that there is a memorial dedicated to slaves. I learned that the house was expanded two times and that rooms where added fro 1795 to 1792. The only thing I knew about Mt. Vernon was that it was George Washington’s home. It was surprising fo
r me to find out that his body is there at Mt. Vernon, I couldn0t believe it, and I wished I could have seen it. While I was walking in the house, I felt literally in that time, the surroundings made me feel differently. I liked Mt. Vernon a lot; I enjoyed looking at the house, the rooms, the Potomac River, and the museum. The coolest thing that happened to me was that we watched a movie were snow fell from the roof and the seats moved back and forth, it was awesome! I really liked this movie; it was fun to watch with my entire friends goofing around. As I said earlier Mt. Ve
rnon was one of my favorite places and would like to return one day.
